High Tibial Osteotomy Using the ‘Tomofix™’ Plating System: Short Term Outcomes in Young Adults

Proximal tibial valgus osteotomy is one of the treatment options for painful medial compartment osteoarthritis and varus deformity knee. The aim our study was to determine quantify how much altered symptoms from gonoarthrosis. In addition we aimed establish whether Tomofix plating system would permit early weight bearing achieve union without use bone grafts. We prospectively analysed experience with opening wedge high using plate.
 Thirty-five knees were included in study. mean age 47 years (36-59 years). Mean duration follow-up 23 months (7-48 Months). All patients underwent system. Data recorded Oxford Knee score, Injury Osteoarthritis Outcome score through review pre postoperative x-rays. Good outcomes seen statistically significant improvement both scores.
 There two delayed unions, remainder united requirement graft. improvement, injury scores. Correction mal-alignment all cases. Early found be permissible risk adverse event.
 plate provided immediate stability satisfactory healing site need functional results seen.
